Range should be at least 12 miles (19 km) per charge for comfortable day trips, with 26Ah battery options ideal for users who want spare capacity in reserve. Suspension matters for the comfort of longer rides over uneven pavement — most of our outdoor-focused models include rear suspension as standard. Solid tyres work well for everyday pavement use; pneumatic tyres give a smoother ride on rougher ground. Class 2 wheelchairs travel at up to 4 mph and are designed for pavement use only — these don't require any registration or insurance. Class 3 wheelchairs travel at up to 8 mph and are permitted on public roads where pavements aren't available; they must be registered with the DVLA, have appropriate lighting, and the rider must follow the Highway Code.
