🌳 About our outdoor wheelchair range
Our outdoor wheelchair range is built for life beyond the front door — strolling through the park, popping to the garden centre, visiting family across town, or taking a longer scenic route on a weekend. These models pair stronger batteries with sturdier frames and tyres designed to handle pavements, kerb crossings, and the occasional bit of uneven ground. Most are Class 2 wheelchairs (up to 4 mph) intended for pavement use, with selected Class 3 options (up to 8 mph) suitable for road use where permitted. Every chair comes with UK warranty support, free UK Mainland delivery, eligible VAT relief, and our 30-day home trial.
⚖️ How to choose an outdoor wheelchair
For outdoor use, prioritise three things: range, suspension, and tyre type. Range should be at least 12 miles (19 km) per charge for comfortable day trips, with 26Ah battery options ideal for users who want spare capacity in reserve. Suspension matters for the comfort of longer rides over uneven pavement — most of our outdoor-focused models include rear suspension as standard. Solid tyres work well for everyday pavement use; pneumatic tyres give a smoother ride on rougher ground. Class 2 chairs are for pavement use; Class 3 are road-legal but need to be registered with the DVLA. If you're unsure, our UK team can advise based on where you'll typically use the chair.
🛣️ Class 2 vs Class 3 — what's the difference?
Class 2 wheelchairs travel at up to 4 mph and are designed for pavement use only — these don't require any registration or insurance. Class 3 wheelchairs travel at up to 8 mph and are permitted on public roads where pavements aren't available; they must be registered with the DVLA, have appropriate lighting, and the rider must follow the Highway Code. Most ComfyGO models in this collection are Class 2 (pavement use). If you're looking specifically for a Class 3 model, contact our team and we'll confirm availability and registration requirements.
