For indoor use, three measurements matter most: overall width, turning radius, and seat height. The wheelchair's overall width should be at least 5cm narrower than the narrowest doorway you'll regularly use — most UK doorways are 76cm (30 inches), but older houses can be 71cm (28 inches) or less. Turning radius matters most in narrow hallways and bathroom doorways; look for chairs with a turning radius under 90cm for typical UK homes. Seat height affects transfers to and from chairs, sofas, and beds — match the seat height to your existing furniture for the easiest transitions. For older UK homes, Victorian terraced properties, and many flats, doorway width is the most common concern.
