Six Tips to Make a Real Difference
Charge According to Your Product Manual
Charge the battery until full as instructed in your product manual. We do not recommend leaving the battery on charge overnight — modern lithium-ion batteries do not need to be charged for extended periods, and prolonged charging beyond full can shorten battery life.
Charge in a Cool, Dry Place
Avoid charging in direct sunlight, on soft surfaces (like a sofa or bed), or near flammable materials. The recommended room temperature for charging is between 5°C and 35°C.
Use Only the Charger We Supplied
Or a genuine replacement from us. Third-party chargers can damage the battery management system, which may invalidate the battery warranty.
Don't Let It Sit Completely Flat
If you are storing the product for more than a month, charge the battery to about 50–70% before storage and top it up every couple of months.
Avoid Extreme Temperatures
Do not leave the product in a freezing garage in winter or a hot car in summer. Where possible, store it indoors at room temperature.
Replace, Don't Modify
If a battery shows signs of swelling, leaking, an unusual smell, or charging much faster or slower than usual, stop using it and contact us. Do not attempt to open or repair a lithium-ion battery — please.
📘 Always follow your product manual for charging times, charger specifications, and any model-specific guidance. The tips above are general best practice — your manual gives you the exact figures for your wheelchair or scooter.

Call us straight away on 0330 520 0720. Do not store, charge, or put a damaged battery in general waste. We will arrange safe collection and replacement.
What's Normal — and What's Not
Some gradual capacity loss over time is normal — all lithium-ion batteries lose a small amount of capacity with each charge cycle. This is the chemistry, not a fault.
However, if your battery holds noticeably less charge after the first few months than when it was new, please contact us. This may be a manufacturing defect covered by warranty. Full coverage detail in our Warranty Policy.
End-of-Life Disposal
When a battery reaches the end of its life, do not put it in household waste — lithium-ion batteries are a fire risk in general bins. Take it to your local council's Household Waste Recycling Centre (most have a battery section), or call us on 0330 520 0720 for guidance on the safest local option.
Frequently Asked Questions
Should I leave my battery on charge overnight?
No — we do not recommend it. Modern lithium-ion batteries do not need to be charged for extended periods. Prolonged charging beyond full can shorten battery life and, in rare cases, present a fire risk. Charge the battery until full as instructed in your product manual, then unplug it.
How long should it take to fully charge?
Full charging time varies by model — your product manual will give you the exact figure for your wheelchair or scooter. As a general guide, most ComfyGO mobility batteries reach full charge within several hours. The charger indicator turns green when the battery is fully charged.
My range has dropped — is that a fault?
It depends. Some gradual range reduction over time is normal as the battery ages. Cold weather also reduces range temporarily — a noticeable drop in winter is not always a sign of a faulty battery.
If your battery is holding noticeably less charge after just a few months, call us on 0330 520 0720. We will run through diagnostic questions over the phone — there is no charge for this during the warranty period.
Can I buy a replacement battery from you?
Yes. Genuine replacement batteries for every product we sell are available from our UK service centre. Call us on 0330 520 0720 with your order number or product serial number, and we will identify the right battery and quote you. Most are despatched within 1–3 working days.
If you are chronically sick or disabled and the battery is being supplied as part of a repair on your qualifying mobility product, the entire repair (including the battery) can often be supplied at 0% VAT under HMRC Notice 701/7. See our VAT Relief guide for details.
What if my battery is damaged?
Stop using it immediately and call us on 0330 520 0720. We will arrange safe collection — damaged lithium-ion batteries cannot be sent through standard couriers and need a specialist hazardous-goods collection, which we will arrange and pay for if it is a warranty issue.
Can I use the wheelchair while it is charging?
No. Do not use or sit on your wheelchair while it is charging. The charger should only be used for charging the battery, never with the wheelchair in operation. Wait until the indicator shows full charge, unplug, and then use the wheelchair as normal.
What if I am not using my wheelchair for a while?
If you are storing the product for more than a month, charge the battery to about 50–70% before storage and top it up every couple of months. Repeated long periods of full discharge will shorten the battery's useful life.
Where can I read the full battery warranty?
Our full Warranty Policy covers the 1-year battery warranty in legal detail — including what is and is not covered, the gradual capacity loss benchmark, and how to make a claim.
